I took a break from tedious knitting to something I thought would be easy and fast. This was definitely the ticket!! It's the "KAINO" Vest by Norah Gaughan knit in Berroco Ultra Alpaca. The pattern is in her Vol. 1 book. It's a great simple design. I love the ribbing down the back, the collar meeting in a point at the back and that it has no closure in the front. The pattern picture shows it worn with a belt. I did change the stockinette cap sleeves to a K1P1 rib and like it much better.

HI Diana!

I love the vest! I wish I could knit... my Kate tried to teach me, but I'm so tense and tight with it that it wasn't relaxing for me. (A white-knuckle knitter?) It would be so great to be able to whip something out like that!

Oh it looks great! I've really admired this pattern, wasn't sure about the ribbing on the bottom, but it doesn't look like it pulls in very much. And looks much better without a belt, I think!

Thanks for your kind comment on my shawl. I just noticed your photo of the latvian mittens at the NATO summit. Wouldn't you have liked to see those mittens in person??!!

That vest looks really cozy. Will have to check it out. And you can have all the snow--I am so tired of it this winter and I live in Seattle, so that says a lot. :) Nice to meet you and thanks for dropping by my site. Keep up the writing--it happens because you just keep doing it. :)
